History of B.O.L.T. on the Internet

In our beginning in the early 1990’s, B.O.L.T. was only in Wisconsin and there was an article called “Where is ABATE?” written by Tony “Pan” Sanfelipo, founder of B.O.L.T.. Richard “Quig” Quigley read the article and contacted Tony “Pan” Sanfelipo, and suddenly there was a B.O.L.T.of Wisconsin and a B.O.L.T. of California.

Quig had one of the earliest internet sites, the awesome US Freedom Fighters web site, which he meticulously designed. It had many inspirational quotes of freedom and liberty and rights. Domain name registration and web site hosting was extremely expensive in those days, so he added to USFF. USFF became the home of B.O.L.T., B.O.L.T. of California, and the Helmet Law Defense League, which was really cool, because now early internet surfers who rode motorcycles could use their home computers to look up helmet laws in their state, find out how the federal and state government were screwing everyone over and lying their asses off about their helmet myths, and their helmet laws which were unjust. As usual, they were trying to get motorcyclists to lay down and play dead. So with the Helmet Law Defense League, motorycclists could find out the truth and find everything they needed to fight helmet tickets in court, in order to try and overturn helmet laws. This happened in some states, and with the HLDL motorcyclists across America had case law to prove it.

USFF was “frozen in time” upon the death of Richard Quigley in 2007.

Try clicking on the B.O.L.T. patch to see the original B.O.L.T. site.

If that doesn’t work, we’ve got a full backup of the original site on another server.

About the same time as StrawberryFieldsForever, Jackie Suthers and B.O.L.T. of Nevada put together their web site. I believe that if you go there you will find some very interesting audio footage of meetings about the helmet law, with Jackie, Quig, and other bikers telling the legislators in Carson City how their helmet law is vague, and this is substantiated by the head of the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Mark Temple had a web site called StrawberryFieldsForever, which was very cool, with some neat photos of some of the helmets used in the California helmet fights. This is now the home site for B.O.L.T. of California.

It should be noted that B.O.L.T. of Florida came into existence before there were chapters of B.O.L.T. in the Carolinas. Chico moved from California to Florida and fought the helmet laws in both states.

Long before B.O.L.T. of North Carolina was resurrected in North Carolina in 2007, and before there was such a thing as the World Wide Web and what is now known as the internet, jan had networked computers using bulletin board systems and modems. In the 1980’s, BBS systems were the earliest networked sites for pioneering home computer users. Naturally, since jan joined B.O.L.T. in 2007, there’s gonna be a whole lot of computer networking going on. This matches nicely with early decisions in the HLDL and B.O.L.T. that we share what we have learned about the draconian helmet laws and helmet myths with the entire motorcycling community.

From our earliest beginnings, never before have so few researched so much, fought so hard, and shared so much with so many, and that’s the way we like it!

To make sure folks know they are WELCOME, our main web site is titled FRIENDS OF B.O.L.T.

Of course, there are times when B.O.L.T., like other organizations, has to have organizational and legal strategy discussions that are closed to the public. We have a variety of public and private discussion lists. For example, our newest chapter is in Massachusetts. In order to effectively fight the OEM Exhaust Pipe Court Case, which is an ongoing case that is tied up in Superior Court, B.O.L.T. of Massachusetts has created a hybrid site in which part of their site is public, while part is private.

Our chapters in Florida, Delaware, Michigan, and Washington will eventually have some content added to their web sites, but FRIENDS OF BOLT is set up so that motorcyclists from any of the states can post updates about what is happening in their state.

As America and the world has entered into “the decade of activism”, B.O.L.T. looks forward to sharing our research and resources, using the best technology for communications, such as our coast to coast conference calls, radio shows, automated alerts, and the B.O.L.T. LIBRARY which we opened in 2010. There is a saying that those with the best technology wins. We are volunteers, using our own money. The government uses our own money to prosecute us and wage war on us, but we do our best.

B.O.L.T. SUPPORT

Governments, including federal, state, county, and local have created a judicial system which is terribly expensive. Unfortunately, the saying is true: justice doesn’t come cheap. Some of our folks are still paying for previous legal expenses, and some are trying to save up to help continue ongoing battles.

Thus, as of the 4th of July, 2010, this is our latest internet site,

This site was built by a volunteer, not a business entity, on existing sites at lowest possible out of pocket expenses.
