Gastonia motorcyclists video of July 4th Ride

Some motorcyclists remember the independence that was once the source of pride of Americans and the envy of the world during a ride from Belmont to Gastonia on the 4th of July, 2010.

It was a great ride we had

It was a great ride we had invited our elected officials to come out and talk to us shame none of them came only person to to come out was Senate hopeful Kathy Harrington Republican N.C.

Kathy Harrington

(It amazed me how few people rode without helmets - I guess this was a repeal ride rather than a protest ride - but the helmeted compliant masses showed support for liberty and the right to decide, so good for them, and Big Kudos to those who went lidless in true protest - 1st Amendment rights must be exercised or they will be lost and forgotten).

On another topic... Support for Kathy Harrington in 2010....

I did some research into Kathy Harrington in 2008. Very supportive to veterans and bikers! She was running against Hoyle, a very well-connected sleazeball (in my opinion, of course), who was always anti-motorcyclist and anti-liberty.

Unfortunately Harrington was not elected, losing narrowly, less than 3%! Hoyle was able to do more damage to the state in 2009, but the good news is he will not be running in 2010. He was an insider with politicians either sent to prison or heading there if the US Marshalls do their job and their efforts in getting states evidence from Ruffin Poole, "the little governor", by dropping 50-something indictments of federal crimes turns out to be worthwhile.

According to an article in a Charlotte newspaper, Hoyle used his position in order to get the state to build a road for his own financial benefit. If I remember correctly, the road would end at property he owned and was developing into a strip mall. The article was making a point that under new ethics laws, Hoyle should have recused himself rather than vote in committee.

Naive are the voters who think politicians spend tens of thousands of dollars on campaigns and then travel all the way to Raleigh to work for $20K per year, and not expect a great amount of unethical payola. Junior legislators often tend to be there with good intentions until they get caught up in the machine, which is why we should demand term limits. Term limits would have put an end to the political careers of disgraced politicians such as RC Soles, Tony Rand, Jim Black, and others, before they corrupt the principled junior legislators into deal-making for the good of the political party rather than the people they represent.

There were many other bad pieces of legislation and questionable ethics regarding Hoyle, so I am very glad to see he is not running in 2010.

Kathy Harrington has a very decent chance of being elected this fall, and will hopefully be a fine junior Senator. I look forward to working some liberty and rights issues with her when she comes to Raleigh.
